At the Oil Ranch, we are dedicated to educating youth and preserving Texas heritage. Our ranch is a great opportunity for students to have a hands-on experience with ranch animals, agriculture and Texas history. During your field trip, you will visit different stops on the farm to learn something new and unique.
Dairy Barn Exhibit
Students who visit the dairy barn will learn about the milking process. Our educational exhibit shows how milk ends up in grocery stores and in your refrigerator after it is taken from a cow. Don’t forget to encourage students to try their hand at milking Daisy, our milk cow.
In our animal barn, students can see the ranch’s baby animals. Depending on the time of year, the barn could be full of baby goats, sheep and maybe even a calf or two! For the best chance of seeing newborns, visit during our spring months.
The petting zoo allows field trip students to get up close and personal with our farm animals. Teach the kids about the fives senses as they see, touch and smell the animals. Make sure to allot enough time for your students at the petting zoo. We promise they won’t want to leave!
Take a hay ride out to the pasture to experience our beef exhibit. Students will have the opportunity to hand-feed and pet the cattle. While you are out there, our experienced ranch hands will teach students about the beef industry.
During your field trip, let your students explore Frontier Village. Student can step inside a real teepee and play on the Indian Sky Swing.
There are many other things for your students to do during their field trip at the Oil Ranch. Public and private schools, home schools and day care centers are all welcome. Groups of 20 or more receive a discounted group rate. Make your reservation now to lock in a date!
